Process

My unique process has been developed over many years since studying Fine Art at Newcastle University in the early 1990s.

The Individual components that make up my collages go through many stages: cutting, painting, sizing, gilding, engraving, varnishing and sealing in layers of sheer Indian and Japanese papers to create their distinctive luminescence. I ensure each small element holds up to close inspection and a single motif, such as a silver charm or a fly, can be framed on its own or arranged in numbers to create bold pieces that work on a larger scale too.
